Slowly filling a void within the world of art
I recently wrote a piece about the need for platforms within art for ethnic minorities. I also touched upon 1:54, the Contemporary African Art Fair that does just that. In it’s fourth year now, it has grown to become the leading platform for both Africa and the African Diaspora in the world of art. Attracting over 30 different galleries, 1000’s of visitors and numerous press outlets, it has, in my eyes, succeeded in the eyes of the art world to African culture.
We were invited down by both 1:54 and our friend Robi Walters to explore the exhibition, and find out a bit more about the work going on.
