The Godfather of Street Art
Dark Circle have teamed up with Woodbury House Contemporary Art and Richard Hambleton to release a capsule collection, including Hambleton’s Shadowman paintings.
For those unfamiliar with Hambleton, hailing from Brooklyn, he is regarded as “The Godfather of Street Art” and worked closely with both, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat in New York during the 80’s. He is known for work such as “Beautiful Paintings” and “Shadowman” as well as work on both the East and West side of the Berlin wall.
Dark Circle, along with Woodbury House have done something many brands fail to achieve and that is to shine a light and educate consumers on a forgotten artist or subject, similar to Supreme and their collaborations.
The collection features T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, hats, as well as collectable art merchandise such as ashtrays and skateboard decks. The stand out pieces are the ‘Masterpiece’ jackets, they feature various all over prints of Hambleton’s work using the same printing process as canvas printing. They are available through Woodbury House exclusively.
Buyers lucky enough to cop a piece will also receive a custom designed presentation box, a collection look book and a certificate of authenticity from Woodbury House.
The collection is available to purchase at www.darkcircleclothing.com.
