They do culture, not fashion
Over the past week, Paris hosted the upper echelon of fashion hailing from around the world to witness the newest trends from the most established brands like Dior, Comme des Garcon, Haider Ackermann and Prada.
Alex and I were in Paris this last week and quite frankly, we were underwhelmed by the whole thing. We found that fashion week is, more than ever, more cut off than ever to young people. Unless you are revered by the old school heads of the fashion world, you won’t find yourself anywhere near these shows. Security is tight and the guest list is tighter.
So rather than trying to street snap every Tom, Dick and Harry entering a Louis Vuitton show in a £30,000 Balenciaga dress, we took to the street to find young, in-tune kids that wear the clothes they want. We weren’t out to shoot high-end, we were out to shoot the people wearing clothes that they feel comfortable in.
What we found impressed us more than anyone we saw outside, or inside, any of the shows during women’s fashion week. So here’s a look at what the real kids of Paris wore during fashion week.
