Social Media Manager

We’re on the lookout for a skilled and passionate Social Media Manager who can create, curate and deliver dynamic content for our channels that speaks to our community and for our community in an authentic way.

With the ability to think both creatively about impact and engagement and strategically about growth, we want someone who can truly navigate the ever-changing social media landscape and can be part of this exciting and turbo-charged period of growth. 

Working closely with the Creative Director, Brand Director and the rest of the senior leadership team, this is a fundamental role within The Basement’s growing Media team with endless opportunities to grow and develop alongside us and our community.


  • Take the lead on developing, scheduling, and posting content across The Basement’s key social channels.
  • Manage our content calendar and assets.
  • Represent The Basement at industry and community events to capture content for our channels and genuinely connect with our community.
  • Have a strategic growth mindset to drive The Basement forward as a community-led media outfit with scalability to grow our community across our key social channels.
  • Work collaboratively across projects to deliver our bread-and-butter daily content as well as key social deliverables for brand partnerships.
  • Deliver monthly reportage on social engagement and growth, optimising strategy in real-time to maximise results engagement.
  • Be on the pulse, engaging with and reviewing social media for Basement-relevant breaking news and viral content.
  • Be explorative across new social media platforms, reporting into senior leadership on areas for growth and new platforms to be aware of that could be beneficial to The Basement as a community and media business.
  • Take pride in your work and have genuine passion for The Basement community and its unique position in youth culture.


  • 3+ years in a social media role in-house at a brand, media organisation or agency. Non-traditional experience also considered.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and creative) with exceptional written ability to communicate via our social media platforms with our community and audience.
  • Video experience is highly preferred to keep pace with the movement on social media towards video-based content.
  • Experience launching new social channels across all relevant social platforms and furthering objectives across existing platforms.
  • Able to build strong working relationships across teams and business units.
  • Strong sense of initiative, a collaborative vibe and an ability to work independently with community spirit and passion.
  • Highly organised with the ability to work across multiple workstreams in a methodical manner.
  • Proven ability to manage and execute key partnership deliverables across social ecosystem and provide social reporting across partner contracts.
  • Ability to brief, manage and produce content with creatives/influencers/talent for social first projects and see those through from conception to delivery.
  • A genuine understanding, appreciation and interest in The Basement’s audience, our community and cultural ecosystem, our quirks and unique tone-of-voice.
  • Flexibility in working schedule to ensure Basement visibility and content capture at industry and community events (parties, pop-ups, activations etc). 


  • Experience of Adobe Creative Cloud softwares (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro particularly) to create and edit content
  • Experience with paid/dark socials

Partnerships Manager

  • Working with our brand partners to plan and deliver partnerships across our ecosystem, including digital/print and IRL activations.
  • Crafting and presenting world-class creative decks – both in response to briefs and for speculative pitches – with a focus on each brand’s unique position, objectives, and championing our incomparable ROI.
  • Using your cultural knowledge and industry experience to ideate solutions that meet our partners’ objectives and authentically tap into The Basement’s unique cultural position.
  • Creating in-depth reportage for partners in line with project objectives, sharing wins and identifying future opportunities to maximise relationships.
  • Daily account management for retainer clients and end-to-end project management for ongoing partnerships, ensuring deliverables are met and navigating any problems along the way.
  • Managing budgets, contracts, and negotiating with partners to deliver best outcomes possible for every project.
  • Maintaining The Basement’s Media & Partnerships kit, keeping current partners up-to-date and selling in our services and solutions to prospective new ones. Building and nurturing relationships at all times.
  • Working with third-party media and talent agencies and collaborating with community talent directly, championing authenticity and inclusion at all times.
  • Working closely with the Partnerships Director and senior leadership to develop The Basement’s overall partnerships strategy, identifying and pitching potential opportunities for revenue growth across our platforms.


  • 3+ years in a brand partnerships/activations/account manager position in a relevant media publishing/agency/brand/PR environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and creative).
  • Excellent deck-creation skills using Keynote & Adobe Acrobat. Creative Cloud applications are beneficial but not essential.
  • Ambitious with excellent pitching skills, comfortable speaking to global brands and delivering first class client solutions.
  • Experience with brand comms, creative partnerships, budget planning, and project management.
  • Able to build strong working relationships across teams and with brand partners.
  • Strong sense of initiative to ideate new and innovative channels to drive revenue and forge new relationships.
  • A collaborative vibe with a natural ability to work independently and achieve personal and departmental goals.
  • A genuine understanding of The Basement audience, our community and position in youth culture, our quirks and unique tone-of-voice.
  • Experience with talent casting, outreach, onboarding, contracting and contract delivery alongside strong talent network knowledge.
  • Comfortable contributing to the wider media team operations with editorial and creative where necessary.
  • Flexibility in working schedule to ensure Basement visibility and branded content capture at industry and community events (parties, pop-ups, activations etc).
