Capturing Tokyo’s Skate Culture
Born and raised in a suburb near Munich, Germany , Luca Werner started to pick up a camera and document his friends around him due to several injuries in snowboarding.
After graduating two years ago from his local high school he focused mainly on traveling and documenting everything around him while doing so. His skateboarding related work is not about the craziest tricks or drunken skaters but more about the aesthetic of skateboarding as well as the beauty of a push. Luca’s work has predominantly focused on shooting skateboarders, however his most recent work aims to merge street photography with skate culture.
Luca’s latest project titled, Everything Is Changing Always stemmed from winning a photography competition a year earlier. The money was spent on travelling to Tokyo to create a campaign.
