And he chose Yorkshire to showcase his work.
Yorkshire is a very nice place, let me put that out there first of all. I’m a massive KAWS fan, and own a few figures myself, and the exhibition up at Yorkshire Sculpture Park does not disappoint. You’ve probably seen countless photos all over Facebook and Instagram already, but if you have the chance to get up (or down) to YSP to see it, please do. Here are some ‘tips’ from when some of The Basement Fam went to visit.
1. Don’t wear your best kicks and garms. This is Yorkshire. It’s muddy, often rains and you WILL tred in horse/dog/fox shit. And it’s quite a walk from the indoor to outdoor space, so bring shoes you can walk in.
2. Bring a camera and hope for the sun! If you want to start a mini photography project or just have some fun, this is a great place to do it. I’ve seen some great photos so far, and we hope to see more under the #basementapproved tag.
3. If you have a previous neck, back or spine injury, be cautious. Sculptures are 6-10 meters in height and we don’t want any more ‘What Netflix series’ can I watch in Hospital’ threads.
4. All the merchandise available at the exhibition is also online at YSP’s store. You can’t buy any figures etc.
