BURST IN BERLIN FOR BREAD&&BUTTER

Last weekend saw the full version of Zalando’s Bread&&Butter trade show. Using multi-faceted talent and brand showcases, it was a weekend to remember. With a comprehensive range of brands in attendance, the two days consisted of discussions with personalities from the wider fashion scene, brand presentations, fashion shows and exhibitions. With a host of worldwide, up-and-coming recording artists mixed with more established stars, B&&B is well on it’s way to becoming a fully-fledged music festival and for us the music line-up was the highlight of the event.

After heading out on Saturday we were blessed with a shellers set from Headie One, continuing his European bombardment performing a range of his hits. He was followed shortly by Mez from Nottingham and Camden’s PK who brought the energy to an unsuspecting yet receptive German audience.

The first day of live acts saw Lauryn Hill come out of hiding before her much anticipated return to London for her 20th Anniversary tour celebrating her much acclaimed album ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’. Her performance, like the album back in 1998, captivated the audience and left all those in attendance with a cherished musical memory for a lifetime.

That evening in the Huawei dome we saw Astroboy Jr. Sheck Wes tear the stage to shreds performing his collection of hits. For me, Sheck Wes redefined the term “Live Show” with his raw energy and stage presence and we look forward to hearing more in his much anticipated album ‘MUDBOY’. Jimothy Lacoste, viral sensation and one of the UK’s most entertaining musicians also took the stage to show his love for fans worldwide to the tune of LoFi beats and deadpan vocal delivery.

After topping up our drinks, recharging on some kebabs and reuniting with our friends, we headed back to the arena to watch London’s own Octavian take his Revenge on all the doubters. With his mixtape Spaceman dropping yesterday he has quickly becoming a prominent artist in the UK music scene with his unique delivery and ear for instrumentals. Supported by J Rick on decks. The progression is real.

We saw some insightful workshops at B&&B but the music line-up was weighty and memorable. Next years’ event is one to keep an eye out for and with B&&B promising the addition of more brands and artists.

We look forward to seeing you there.
